Artist's Comments

This is for :iconranger-roger: by request and with the hope that it brightens his day as it does mine when it flowers.

It's a French variety of tea rose from 1922 that I grew from a cutting way back in 1996 when the bush was being uprooted by a demolition squad at a former workplace It's an excellent rose, very healthy and with the most divine scent. It's also very rare here.

You really are a great nature photographer, you know just how to capture the shot.

:manhug: That's a lovely thing to say....I guess I just love it all so much that I can quickly see a good angle. I've literally been gardening since I was 4 years old! Wanting to do macros is the main reason I bought a decent camera, but of course found out soon enough that there's a lot more out there to capture :D

:D Thank you again, Jean. I do so love this rose. It is one of the few I managed to grow from a cutting that I rescued before the plant was demolished by builders at a place I once worked :crying: It's quite rare here and it was many years before I discovered its name and type. It's a very hardy, healthy rose that doesn't need pruning or even much dead-heading, being an old Tea Rose. It was in a pot but when I finally released it into the garden, it was soooo grateful.

Thank you! It has the most wonderful scent as well. The flowers only last one day, but it usually has quite a few, so that doesn't matter. It's one of the old varieties (Tea Rose) that I grew from a cutting. If I had room for only one rose, this would be it.

I think gardening and botany is really interesting, but I've never really gotten deeply involved. I'd probably just kill the plants anyways by accident. ^^;
